About John McCaine

Hi there!

My name is John McCaine and I’m a proud hound dog owner. I’ve been caring for these wonderful dogs all my life, and they’ve been a big part of my life ever since. My first hound dog was a beagle named Dexter – he was my babysitter when I was a toddler :). I have lots of memories of playing with him and my parents telling me stories about him.

Later on, I had two more hound dogs – a basset named Duke and a beagle named Bertha. They were a big part of my grown-up life and they hold a very special place in my heart. I have so many fond memories of them and I still find myself telling stories from those times.

One of my favorite memories with my hound dogs is from when I was a teenager. My parents had just got a new car and we went for a drive to the park. Duke and Bertha were in the back seat, sticking their heads out of the window and enjoying the wind in their ears. We were having so much fun that we forgot to bring a leash for them.

When we got to the park, Duke and Bertha ran off into the woods after a squirrel. We called and called for them, but they were nowhere to be found. We looked for them for hours, until it started getting dark. We were about to give up and go home when we heard their faint barks in the distance. We followed the sound and found them both tired and happy, curled up next to each other fast asleep.

It was such a relief to find them safe and sound, and we all had a good laugh about it afterward. That’s just one of the many wonderful memories I have of my hound dogs.

The years passed on, and now I am a father myself (of my 2 adorable sons – Andrew and Joshua) and I have a hound dog of my own once again – a beagle named Simon. He’s brought so much joy into our lives and I am so grateful to have him in our family.I started this blog to share my love and knowledge of hound dogs with other dog lovers out there. I will share stories, tips, and advice on everything hound dog related. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it!
